Ed Beidel, President

Ed was introduced to golf at an early age while caddying at the Fox Chapel Golf Club, Pittsburgh Field Club and Oakmont Country Club in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since graduating from Penn State in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture, Ed has been actively involved in golf architecture and landscape architecture.

As the principal of Beidel Design Associates, Ed is licensed as a landscape architect in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina and Florida (pending) and is nationally certified as a Landscape Architect through the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board (CLARB). Ed has been affiliated with the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) since 1988 and currently serves on the ASGCA Board of Governors. He is a full member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and an affiliate member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). Since establishing the firm in 1993, Ed has developed his own creative yet practical design style that maintains the game's traditional values. As a smaller design firm by choice, Ed is personally involved in all project phases from initial site selection and conceptual planning through the construction process. Although specializing in golf design, Ed’s background in landscape architecture allows for comprehensive land development analysis and design, whether for a residential, commercial and/or golf oriented development.

A strong proponent of “affordable/practical golf”, “family golf” and “growing the game”, he is a frequent speaker at state and regional golf conferences and seminars. He is also the author of golf design articles that have appeared in golf course superintendent newsletters and industry publications.
